Boy George’s rent-boy “sexed up” false imprisonment story, court told
The male escort who claims that Boy George falsely imprisoned him wanted to be placed in hand cuffs and “sexed up” his story a court has heard.
46-year-old singer Boy George (real name George O’Dowd) is charged with the false imprisonment of rent-boy Audun Carlsen.
The singer’s lawyer Adrian Waterman accused Mr Carksen of making up his claims in order to sell his story to the newspapers saying: “You have lied to the police; You have tried to make this story more exciting. You have added details and you have sold your story to the press and you have every intention of doing so again.”
But Mr Carlsen replied: “Do you think I would put myself through all this for the sake of a few thousand pounds?”
Snaresbrook Crown Court was previously told that 28-year-old Mr Carlsen met the former Culture Club star on dating website Gaydar in 2007 and agreed to go to his flat in London’s Shoreditch late one night for a “photo session.” During the session, Boy George’s lawyer said that Mr Calsen “took handcuffs and asked to put them on.” He added that this could explain the injuries on Mr Calsen’s arm and neck.
The jury was shown a number of photographs from the night in question alongside a video. Mr Calsen told the court that his injuries were caused by the singer handcuffing and beating him because he had refused to have sex with him the first time they met. “I think he could not handle the refusal of me not having sex with him,” said Mr Carlsen.
The pair took cocaine and the singer – performed a sex act on Carlsen and paid him £300.
In the following months the pop star sent the prostitute a series of messages on Gaydar and eventually arranged to meet again.
On April 28th Carlsen returned to the apartment and Mr O’Dowd, who believed that Carlsen had tampered with his computers, chained him up, the court was told.
He fled the apartment the next morning in his underwear after working his bonds loose and rang police from a local shop.
The fire brigade were called out to cut his handcuffs off.
Boy George (Mr O’Dowd), was arrested in May, charged in November and released on bail.
He denies false imprisonment.
