Cardiff will celebrate Pride in September
The Welsh capital will have a Pride event this year following the cancellation of Cardiff Mardi Gras.
Cardiff Pride will take place on Saturday 6th September on Coopers Field, the site of the original event.
Members of the gay community in the city are organising Pride.
“All the facilities of the past years will be there,” a spokesperson said.
There will be a charge to attend the event.
“Every single penny profit will be donated to local gay and other worthy causes – to be decided upon by a totally independent body of people,” according to the Cardiff Pride website.
“All work carried out by the management team and volunteers is totally voluntary.
“It’s going to be hard work but well worth it to keep an event going and at the same time raise money for local worthy causes.”

It is hoped that Cardiff’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras will resume in 2009.
A lack of community and financial support was blamed for the cancellation of Wales’ largest Pride event, held annually since 1999.
The Cardiff Mardi Gras organising committee announced in February that the event will not being going ahead this summer.
Despite the huge success of Mardi Gras in recent years, “high demands placed on committee members have made it difficult to retain volunteers and attract new ones,” the committee said in a statement.
