Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried rumoured to return for bisexual classic Jennifer’s Body 2

Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried in Jennifer's Body

The long-awaited sequel to Jennifer’s Body is reportedly gearing up to begin filming with Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried expected to reprise their roles.

A new listing in industry publication Production Weekly has the sequel, Jennifer’s Body 2, set to shoot in October, as per World Of Reel.

Despite the listing, the film has not yet been officially confirmed or greenlit by 20th Century Studios.

Writer Diablo Cody, who penned the 2009 original, has confirmed she is working on the script and that both Fox, who is bisexual, and Seyfried are on board to return as Jennifer and Needy.

Director Karyn Kusama previously told Deadline that Cody was “working on it right now“, though it is not yet clear whether Kusama herself will return to direct.

Seyfried has been vocal about the sequel, telling Adam Brody during a Variety “Actors on Actors” conversation last year: “We’re making another one.” She also said she wouldn’t sign up for the sequel if Fox didn’t return.

Released in 2009, Jennifer’s Body underperformed at the box office but has since been adopted as a queer cult classic.

Jennifer’s Body, the bisexual cult classic

The body horror film has been elevated to cult classic since its release – specifically for its depiction of female sexuality and bisexual themes.

There is a lot of queer-coded scenes between friends Jennifer Check (played by Megan Fox) and Anita Lesnicki (Amanda Seyfried), exploring their sexual tension.

Many people cite the film as their “bisexual awakening”, so could the sequel awaken a new generation of bisexual people?
