Record Store Day Black Friday 2021 is one of the most-anticipated events on the popular shopping day.

Fans of exclusive and one-off vinyl can get their hands on limited-edition releases, while supporting independent businesses.

This year’s Record Store Day Black Friday will take place on 26 November, with independent record stores across the globe taking part in-store and online.

There’s more than 100 records being released from the likes of, Fleetwood Mac, Lana Del Rey, Kali Uchis, Evanescence, Dusty Springfield and Jimi Hendrix Experience.

What is Record Store Day Black Friday?

The organisers say they see RSD Black Friday as the “kick-off to the holiday shopping season”, as many stores launch special releases on Black Friday, and may choose to carry them throughout the holiday season – depending on demand.

They say they take part in Black Friday because “it’s an important day and we want record stores to be a part of it if they choose to”, and it’s a way to highlight independent stores.

While the official Record Store Day – which takes place earlier in the year – is an “all-day party celebrating the record store”.

What can we expect on Record Store Day Black Friday 2021?

There will be three types of releases on 26 November:

Exclusives: These titles are physically released only at indie record stores.
RSD First: These titles are found first at indie record stores but may be released to other retailers or webstores at some point in the future.
Small run/Regional titles: These titles are either regionally based and sold at specific stores, or are press runs under 1000, which means they may be harder to find at record stores around the country.

Many independent record stores will sell their RSD Black Friday releases in-store, with fans expected to queue in-person for certain drops.

Meanwhile a number of them will also sell the releases on their websites. This includes Rough Trade who already have their RSD Black Friday page ready alongside the releases they’ll be stocking at roughtrade.com/blackfriday.

It features releases from Lana Del Rey, Dusty Springfield, Kali Uchis, Ozzy Osbourne, Fleetwood Mac, Evanescence, Leonard Cohen, Carole King and Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Yes, you can expect to get some discounted vinyl records on Black Friday through major retailers like HMV and Urban Outfitters.

Ahead of Black Friday, HMV are already offering two vinyl for £40. This includes albums from Harry Styles, Amy Winehouse, Kate Bush, Lauryn Hill, Mitski, Little Mix, Phoebe Bridgers and Britney Spears. You can shop the deal on HMV’s offers page here.
