Italian fashion label Gucci has raised eyebrows by casting a trans woman ā as a male model.
Actress and model Hari Nef became Gucciās first trans model, after signing with modelling agency IMG ā home to Gisele BĆ¼ndchen and Kate Moss.
She walked the catwalk in Milan last week ā but some were surprised after she was used in a male fashion shoot.
Alessandro Michele, Gucciās Creative Director, put the model in a show which paid tribute to gender-fluid fashion ā with Nef one of eight female models taking part in a male runway show.
Nef posted pictures of the show to her Instagram page, posing in a stunning all-red outfit complete with cape and hat.
She is far from the first genderfluid fashion model, though ā a number of women are now modelling as men.
Jaden Smith was recently named the new face of Louis Vuittonās womenswear collection ā as part of a new generation of models refusing to be defined by traditional gender stereotypes.
Meanwhile, 14-year-old YouTube sensation Brendan Jordan was previously signed to model womenswear for American Apparel.
The teen posted in a tutu and make-up for his range, as just one of the companyās many LGBT models.
A deaf Next Top Model contestant recently shared some basic, gay-friendly sign language ā that may come in very useful if you ever lucky enough to meet him.
