Equality and Inclusion Manager (Impact Engagement) – Olympic Delivery Authority

Role description
The Equality and Inclusion Manager will lead and manage projects to ensure that the ODA maximises its contribution to equality, is an exemplar in meeting its statutory duties to promote equality and integrates equality and inclusion into all its business processes.
You will play a lead role in assessing and maximising the impact on equality of major projects and ODA functions and policies.
You will provide advice internally within the ODA on equality and inclusion issues, and will assist in managing key stakeholder relationships on equality and inclusion.
Principal accountabilities
* Be an ODA ‘ambassador’ for equality, diversity and inclusion, acting as a point of contact for key stakeholders and leading on specific projects with partner organisations relating to the area
* Act as a ‘champion’ within the ODA and Delivery Partner for themes of equality, diversity and inclusion, providing a day-to-day contact for senior colleagues, functional areas (such as procurement, communications and HR) and the Equality Diversity Board with issues relating to these themes
* Develop, lead and manage projects to further equality and inclusion internally within the ODA.
* Further develop, monitor the delivery of, review and report progress on the ODA’s Race Equality Scheme, Gender Equality Scheme and Disability Equality Scheme, including consultation with targeted equality groups on the further development of the schemes; work with internal teams and managers across the ODA and Delivery Partner to ensure delivery of the objectives of these statutory schemes.
* Lead on the development and implementation of a programme of equality impact assessment in relation to the ODA’s and Delivery Partner’s key functions and policies; preparing reports on the outcome of equality impact assessments for publication.
* Advise and support senior colleagues on how to assess, monitor and report on the impact on equality of major projects. Assist and advise the Head of HR in the ODA and Delivery Partner on:
– the development and delivery of programmes to ensure all ODA staff are effectively trained and follow best practice guidelines relating to equality and diversity
-The ODA’s and Delivery Partner’s own internal equality and inclusion action plans, assisting and advising them on how to meet agreed equality targets in relation to employment
* Work closely and effectively with a range of internal and external partners (in particular the ODA’s Communications team and Head of External Relations) in the delivery of initiatives that engage key stakeholders within the local community and in both the public and private sectors so as to enable the delivery of the ODA’s Equality Diversity Strategy (include link to strategy), stakeholders will include LOCOG, London Boroughs, the London Development Agency and the Greater London Authority
* Work in close and effective partnership with the rest of the integrated Equality Inclusion team (see attached organagram)
on all relevant areas, developing strong working relationships with key colleagues in both the ODA and LOCOG.
Person specification

It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong record across a broad range of the criteria in both Part One and Part Two:
Part 1 – Key experience
* Proven track record of success in delivering the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda of a large, complex organisation (public or private sector) as oppose to a policy-making, think-tank or lobbying role within the area
* Experience of working closely or within the public sector on diversity, equality and inclusion issues that in turn demonstrates a strong understanding of the ODA’s statutory obligations within these areas
* Successful track record of developing and implementing Equality Impact Assessments
* Experience of successfully managing, monitoring and reporting on the performance of key equality and diversity objectives
* Proven track record of success of working in partnership with a range of public and private sector organisations, effectively managing stakeholder issues relating to equality and diversity Experience of managing stakeholder issues in relation to equality and diversity

* Ability to work effectively in a complex, fast-moving and multi-disciplinary environment
* Ability to operate in a high profile political environment under high levels of public scrutiny

* A CIPD qualification or a relevant post-graduate degree would be an advantage, but is not essential

Salary
Competitive salary package.
Other benefits
Discretionary bonus payments will be paid as a percentage of base salary and will be determined by the achievement of corporate, functional and individual objectives assessed by the performance management rating that an individual receives.
You will be reimbursed for travelling expenses (other than travel to and from work), accommodation or other expenses in the course of carrying out your role provided that any expenses are incurred in accordance with the terms of the ODA’s policy.
Leave
25 days paid annual leave per annum in addition to the usual public holidays.
Notice period
3 months.
Pension
You will be offered membership of a stakeholder pension scheme and an employer contribution of 6% of your basic salary will be made. You may also contribute to the scheme, subject to the maximum allowed by current HM Revenue and Customs limits.
Normal place of work
Canary Wharf.
