Several schools will soon be the first in the UK to get specialist online help with homophobic bullying.

Rainford High Technology College, is to be a pioneer user of the Denial online anti-homophobic bullying resource, once it launches in January.

The Principal of the school, Ian Young, said:Ā ā€œThe resource supports young people within the school dealing with issues of sexuality and challenges unacceptable views that still exist around homosexuality in our society.

ā€œI am sure our work with Ariel Trust will help our students accept people for the people they are rather than being prejudiced by homophobic attitudes.ā€

An new initiative to help drive out homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in secondary schools was launched Ā in an East London school by Minister for Women and Equalities Jo Swinson this week, during Anti-Bullying Week.

The announcement follows the pledge in July that the Church of England will introduce a campaign to fight homophobic bullyingĀ in its schools,Ā and Stonewall has launched a new campaign, to tackle the use of homophobic language in schools using new posters and guidance to address the misuse of the word ā€˜gayā€™.
