A campaign has been started urging the city of Vancouver to light up a major bridge with rainbow colours for pride.

The campaign includes a petition which has been signed by 1,300 people, and notes that the city is already inclusive.

It goes on to say the city should light up the Burrard Bridge, in a show of support for the LGBT community in the city.

The petition reads: ā€œVancouver is an inclusive city, letā€™s show the world. Weā€™re going to transform the Burrard Bridge into a symbol of acceptance and inclusion. This is your opportunity to show your love and support for your city, and the LGBTQ community.

ā€œWeā€™re going to build the biggest pride rainbow ever. It will showcase thousands of supportive Vancouverites signatures, including every signature we collect on this petition.ā€

LGBT rights are fairly advanced in Canada, with same-sex marriage and adoption legal, and discrimination protections for LGBT people.
