Israel latest country to reveal over half of young people ‘not 100% straight’

It seems the whole world is opening up in its approach to sexuality.

A recent UK survey found that 49 percent of Brits between the ages of 18-24 identify as something other than “100 percent heterosexual” when asked to plot themselves on Kinsey’s sexuality scale.

A similar survey in the USA found that 78 percent of Americans identified as heterosexual – but only 4 percent of that 78 percent said they were “100 percent heterosexual.”

Now, Israel is the latest country to jump on the bisexual bandwagon.

The Israeli website Mako teamed up with the Pannels Institute to conduct a study in which they asked 600 non-religious Israeli Jews over the age of 18 about their sexual preferences.

Once again, the results revealed that the younger generation see themselves on a sexual spectrum – rather than 100 percent homosexual or heterosexual.

Researchers found that 67 percent of respondents considered themselves to be heterosexual, but only 3 percent of that 67 percent said they were “100 percent homosexual.”

The remaining 30 percent said they were somewhere in-between straight and gay.

Last month, YouGov asked 1632 British people to plot themselves on a Kinsey scale of sexuality, from 0 (exclusively heterosexual) to 6 (exclusively homosexual).

Among the population as a whole, 72% of adults chose 0 (exclusively heterosexual) – with just 23% differing.

4% ranked themselves as exclusively homosexual, with 19% identifying as somewhere on the spectrum in between the two.

However, among 18-24 year olds – who are likely to have grown up in a more accepting environment – the figures are shockingly different.

Just 46% of young people would rank themselves as 0 (exclusively heterosexual) – compared to 49% who picked something else.
