This gay guy has Down syndrome but he doesn’t let either label define him
Paul, a young gay guy with Down syndrome is confident in himself and doesn’t let any label define him.
He stars in this short video from Mic, as part of the ‘Flip the Script’ series.
In the video, editor Elizabeth Plank catches up with Paul, and his mother, who live in Brooklyn.
They discuss the use of the word ‘gay’ as an insult, and slang use of the word ‘retarded’, and how offensive both can be.
Speaking to Plank, Paul describes himself as “fabulous”, and enjoys drama and Darren Criss.
“I am homosexual,” Paul says, “and I feel fabulous about it.”
