Canadians told in no uncertain terms: Use glory holes for safe, socially-distanced hook-ups
Canadians are the latest to be urged to use glory holes as part of efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19.
The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control has published its guidelines on how to have safe sex in the age of coronavirus – and glory holes are apparently a perfect way to keep the virus at bay.
The group told Canadians that they can continue to have sex if they are feeling “fine” and have no symptoms of COVID-19.
“Sex can be very important for mental, social and physical well-being,” the health service authority program said.
“It is a part of everyday life. People can, will and should continue to have sex during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Messages that discourage or shame people from sexual contact can be harmful and may discourage people from seeking essential sexual health services,” they added.
They said that COVID-19 is spread by liquid droplets in saliva, through breathing and through coughing and sneezing.
They urged people who are feeling unwell to avoid sex altogether – but those who are not experiencing symptoms have been given the go-ahead.
Canadian health authority recommends using ‘barriers’ – including glory holes – to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The BCCDC said the safest form of sexual activity is masturbation, with virtual sex also being a fun and socially distant alternative.
But if you are going to continue to have sex, they have some advice on how to avoid contracting COVID-19.
They recommend that people wash before and after sex and give sex toys a good cleaning.
They also advise that people might want to consider wearing face masks during sex.
Use barriers, like walls (eg, glory holes), that allow for sexual contact but prevent close face-to-face contact.
And, crucially, they tell people that glory holes are one of the best ways to keep the infection at bay.
“Use barriers, like walls (eg, glory holes), that allow for sexual contact but prevent close face-to-face contact,” the website recommends.
There are also other precautions people should take. They should choose sex positions that limit face to face contact and, naturally, they recommend using condoms, lube and dental dams.
So, if you’re wondering how to have safe sex in the age of coronavirus, the answer is clear: just use a glory hole.
Canada is not the first country to recommend its citizens use glory holes to stem the spread of COVID-19.
New York City’s health department endorsed glory holes last month in a safe sex guide.
“Make it a little kinky,” the health department recommended. “Be creative with sexual positions and physical barriers, like walls that allow sexual contact while preventing close face to face contact.”
