Lesbian loses rape charity tribunal
A 40-year-old Glasgow woman has lost an employment tribunal against Scottish Rape Crisis Network.
Claire Phillips had claimed that she was fired after complaining that she had been outed as a lesbian by a fellow employee.
She did not want her colleagues to know she is gay, she told the tribunal.
“Until there is no homophobia left in the world, I will continue to treat my sexuality as confidential,” she said, according to The Mirror.
Ms Phillips admitted talking about her work colleagues in an internet chatroom and calling them “manky,” “ugly” and “fuckwits.”
At the tribunal in Glasgow, the chairman, Roderick MacKenzie, found that Ms Phillips had not been victimised or dismissed from her job because of her sexuality.
He ruled that she had been fired as a result of personality clashes.
