Jessie J denies biographer’s claim that she is a lesbian
The pop singer Jessie J has denied the claims of an unofficial biography that she is a lesbian, and that bisexuality was simply a more appealing public identity to assume, saying it’s all ‘untrue’.
Writing on Twitter, Jessie said: “Its funny how many people I’ve dated (or) slept with that I’ve never even met…”
“BUT what’s that?! *whispers because its a secret* I’m really a lesbian?!”
Ms Govan writes in herbook: “Jessie might have been with boys in the past – but she is 100 per cent gay. Jessie was openly lesbian and didn’t hide it… She was advised not to come out, though. Certain people thought being bi was trendy, exotic and a fashion statement. It would increase her allure.”
In addition to the claims that bisexuality was more fashionable, Ms Govan says fears of homophobia played a part in the decision, which was said to have “incensed” the star. “There are so many homophobes out and there were fears of a career-damaging backlash,” she adds.
Ms Govan’s entry on her literary agent’s website says she also penned “the first major biography on pop sensation Katy Perry”, which includes an interview with the girl it claims inspired Perry’s hit song ‘I Kissed A Girl’. It adds: “Her trademark is speed, delivering copy fast without compromising on quality or detail, and continuing to bring you the exclusives the newspapers never printed.”
