Broadchurch kiss between older women surprises viewers
A kiss between older women characters in ITV programme Broadchurch has surprised some viewers.
In the penultimate episode of the current series, characters Jocelyn Knight and Maggie Radcliffe shared a kiss after admitting long-held feelings for each other. Viewer reactions were mixed, with some feeling the kiss was shoe-horned in as a deliberately “shocking” plot point.

Others praised the representation of older lesbian women.
Nice work re lesbian representation #Broadchurch. Not mad, not evil, not 20-something. Heartbreaking it’s so rare.

So happy with #Broadchurch & their #LGBT representation right now. Rarely see lesbian relationships between older women in prime time shows.

Viewers have also complained about actor David Tennant’s accent and the fact his character was seen receiving table service in a Nando’s.
Last year, Doctor Who featured its first lesbian kiss.
