Sadiq Khan pledges that London will be accepting of trans police officers
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has pledged to help support trans police officers, and to roll out gender-neutral toilets across the capital.
Speaking in a new interview with the Evening Standard Magazine (ES), the Mayor of London said he planned for London to be a city with religious tolerance, fully electric busses, transgender police officers and non-gender specific toilets.
He said: “Identity is an area that is evolving and developing and stuff, so I think you should respect people’s right to choose how they want to be identified.”
Mr Khan last month led the Pride in London march which attracted tens of thousands to the capital’s streets.
He succeeded Boris Johnson as the Mayor of London, after a decisive victory in the Mayoral election.
The Mayor spoke to PinkNews a vigil for the victims of the Orlando Pulse bar mass shooting to vow to keep Londoners safe.
