Joe Exotic wants Brad Pitt to play him in a big screen adaptation of Tiger King. Yes, really
Joe Exotic, star of Netflix’s Tiger King, has reportedly put forward Brad Pitt as an ideal candidate to play him in a film adaption of his life.
Two men stand before you: one is the gay gun-toting polygamist mullet-styled redneck Joe Exotic, and the other is Brad Pitt.
In the eyes of Exotic there is no difference between the two men, apparently.
So much so that the Tiger King star, currently serving a 22-year prison sentence, wants the actor famed for his aggressively square jaw to play him in the movie adaptation, the Hollywood Reporter stated.
According to series director Rebecca Chaiklin, Exotic suggested either Pitt or David Spade could play him.
Uh.
Joe Exotic wants Brad Pitt or David Spade to play him in a movie adaption of Tiger King. Sure.Â
Chaiklin recounted how Exotic referred to Spade as “Joe Dirt”, the name of his character from the 2001 comedy of the same name.
While no film adaptation of Tiger King is in development at the moment, a TV drama is in the pipeline and has been since November.
Kate McKinnon is set to play Carole Baskin in the upcoming series.
Exotic has not yet been cast but dozens of celebrities have thrown their hats into the ring, including Shepard, Jared Leto, Shane West and Edward Norton.
American DJ Diplo offered his own dream roster of actors, casting himself as Exotic with Prince Charles as Baskin’s softly-spoken husband Howard.
Tiger King has engulfed a world in lockdown.
The Netflix series trails the fiery feud between Exotic, a former roadside petting zoo owner, and animal rights activist Baskin.
Their feud eventually curdles further culminating in a plot to do violence against her, with Exotic eventually accused of hiring a hit person to kill Baskin.
He was convicted April 2019 on two counts of murder-for-hire and a volley of charges around the animals he kept. Exotic has carried out his sentence in a Texan federal prison, but was transferred to a jail hospital after several inmates tested positive for coronavirus.
