Ellen DeGeneres is ‘at the end of her rope’ after continuing accusations of being ‘one of the meanest people alive’

Ellen DeGeneres is allegedly “at the end of her rope” as accusations of her “mean” behaviour continue to mount.

A source close to the daytime talk show host long lauded for her sunny demeanour claimed that DeGeneres is being emotionally eroded by the relentless claims against her.

She has, in recent weeks, been accused of “mean” behaviour towards guests and staff, and has come under fire for allegedly leaving her crew in the dark over their pay while regular filming on her show was paused.

Ellen DeGeneres thought ‘mean’ rumours would be a ‘passing thing’, claims source.

“Ellen is at the end of her rope,” the source told Us Weekly.

“She thought this was all just sour grapes from a few haters. But it’s not a passing thing – the hits just keep coming.”

From on-air broadsides against celebrities to the controversy around the company she keeps, DeGeneres has fielded criticism while trying to maintain her chirpy reputation.

Spikes have, over the years, been thrown by celebrities, former employees and viewers under DeGeneres’ feet. She has always denied them, once saying to the New York Times: “That bugs me if someone is saying that because it’s an outright lie.”

Yet, the flood gates opened this year after one of DeGeneres’ ex-employees, Kevin T Porter, described her as “one of the meanest people alive” in a winding Twitter thread.

He encouraged Twitter users to share “insane stories” of DeGeneres’ behaviour, pledging to match each one with a $2 donation to LA Food Bank.

Raising around $600, an avalanche of, albeit, unverified stories came crashing in from former employees, neighbours and others linked to her.

Claims of bullying staff, stringent workplace rules and heated encounters with DeGeneres, all colliding with her perky image.

This was only intensified by a tasteless joke she told in early April. She said on The Ellen Show: “[Quarantining at home] is like being in jail, it’s mostly because I’ve been wearing the same clothes for ten days and everyone in here is gay.”

Fans reminded her that jails across the States have become petri dishes for the deadly coronavirus disease and that Ellen, there’s people that are dying.
