Harry Styles dressed up as The Little Mermaid for some inexplicable reason and fans can’t deal

Harry Styles as The Little Mermaid’s Ariel? Sure, why not.

Disney and One Direction stans have united to praise the power, the intelligence, the influence and the international implications that Harry Styles playing Ariel would have after images of the star in full mermaid garb surfaced on Twitter.

The photographs, showing the 27-year-old dressed as a chain-smoking, champagne-drinking, gemstone ring-wearing and heavily tattooed Ariel, date back to a 2019 Saturday Night Live photoshoot.

After they emerged Friday (16 April), Ariel was trending on Twitter. Styles really did walk so Ariel could swim, huh.

Harry Styles ‘turned down Prince Eric’ in Little Mermaid remake

Disney is currently filming a live action version of The Little Mermaid with singer Halle Bailey (one-half of Chloe x Halle) in the lead role.

Styles did actually come pretty close to scoring one of the leading roles.

The singer told Capital Breakfast in 2019 that he turned down the role of Prince Eric in an upcoming Disney live-action remake of The Little Mermaid due to a scheduling conflict.

Speaking to Capital Breakfast host Roman Kemp, he said: “I had a meeting with Rob Marshall, the director, who is the most wonderful man.

“He’s great, and it was just honestly a few things and it just wasn’t. It’s going to be an amazing film.”

“I want to put music out and focus on that for a while,” Styles said in another interview with The Face magazine.

“But everyone involved in it was amazing,” he added. “So I think it’s going to be great.”

Styles even has a mermaid tattoo on his left forearm. He told Hollywood Life in 2014 with a smile that he got the tattoo because simply put: “I am a mermaid.”

There you have it.
