Anti-gay clerk annoys Survivor by using ‘Eye of the Tiger’ at her release
The band Survivor is pretty annoyed that anti-gay clerk Kim Davis walked out of jail to ‘Eye of the Tiger’.
Adamantly bigoted clerk Kim Davis, who went to jail rather than obey court orders instructing her to marry gays, was released yesterday.
Davis, the clerk for Rowan County, Kentucky, made international news when she defied a string of court orders by refusing to grant marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples, despite issuing marriage licenses being a large part of her job.
Walking out of jail, Davis cried and threw her hands in the air to the famed song, well known from the film Rocky.
“NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use ‘My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger,’” the band wrote on its Facebook page.
“I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that -See Ya really SoooooooonnnnnnN!!!!!!,” they added.
Speaking at a rally organised by Republican Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, Davis said, in tears: “I love you all so very much. I just want to give God his glory. His people have rallied and you are a strong people. We serve a living God who knows exactly where each and every one of us is at. Keep pressing. Don’t let down.”
US District Judge David L Branning issued an order yesterday granting her a conditional release – as long as she does not “interfere” in the process by blocking same-sex marriage licenses.
Davis last Thursday went to jail in contempt of court. She refused to accept deals which would have set her free days ago, if she allowed her deputies to issue the marriage licences to gay couples.
In case you missed it, the Twitter account ‘@nexttoKimDavis’ has been live tweeting observations throughout the stubbornly homophobic clerk’s ordeal.
The wildly poplar Facebook page ‘God’, yesterday took aim at Davis, and said she had repented her homophobic ways.
