Dear White People Vol. 3 trailer features hilarious Queer Eye parody
Dear White People‘s third season is set to feature a tongue-in-cheek parody of fellow Netflix series Queer Eye, and fans can catch a glimpse of it in the recently-released trailer.
In the two-minute teaser, Logan Browning’s Sam White can be seen flicking on a TV to reveal the title card for a show called US of Gay. On the screen, a black GMC roadtruck – (complete with a number plate that reads: ‘Fabulous’) – can be seen pulling up to a house with confederate flags hanging from all the windows.
Inside, a suited-and-booted man rummages through the bewildered homeowner’s closet, before pulling out a Ku Klux Klan mask and robe.
“Hunty,” the man, who considering his British accent, is likely to be a take on Queer Eye‘s Doncaster-born fashion expert Tan France. “It’s after labor day. What are you doing with all this white?”
Vol. 3 looks to be Dear White People’s queerest season yet
And that’s not the only queer moment in the first-look footage either. Elsewhere, gay character Lionel Higgins (Tyler James Williams) can be seen exploring the world of BDSM.
“This is the deep end of the gay pool,” a character dressed like Nichelle Nichols’s Uhura from Star Trek tells him. “You’ve still got your little floaties on.”
The trailer even squeezes in a RuPaul-meets-Pose moment, as another character wearing a Marie Antoinette gown and a pink wig shouts, “Listen up, you boujee motherf***ers.”
Meanwhile, Ashley Blaine Featherson’s Joelle Brooks can be heard via voice over saying the Dear White People radio show is gearing up to feature “guests who know all about the Supreme Court, and guests who think the Supreme Court is a Diana Ross-themed Drag Race challenge.”
Created by Justin Simien – who wrote and directed the 2014 film of the same name – Dear White People returns on Netflix on Friday August 2.
