Mel B shares what it was like seeing Geri for the first time after revealing to the world they’d had sex
Spice Girl Mel B has revealed it was “a bit awkward” seeing Geri Halliwell for the first time since claiming on a TV show they had slept together.
Scary Spice shared her bandmate’s reactions during an interview on ITV’s The Johnathan Ross Show while talking about life since The Spice Girls World Tour.
The 44-year-old star said: “It was a bit awkward when we first got together in rehearsals.”
Mel B, whose full name is Melanie Brown, explained that because the sexual encounter happened a long time ago, Halliwell wanted an explanation as to why she said it.
Retelling the awkward moment, Brown responded to Halliwell’s question with: “I don’t know, Piers [Morgan] just asked me a question, I’m not going to lie.”
To which Halliwell allegedly replied: “Why did you even bring that up.”
Mel B told Johnathan Ross that the bandmates’ awkward conversation was similar to how best friends would talk, saying that it was like, “Oh, stop it. Shut your big mouth.”
Pressing for more details, Ross asked whether the remaining three Spice Girls wanted to stay out of the drama.
Mel replied by saying: “I think they were all saying, ‘Don’t mention me either!'”
She concluded her conversation with Ross on her and Halliwells’ past by saying, “Oh gosh, I’ve had too much wine.”
The history of Mel B and Geri Halliwell sex rumours.
The pair’s sexual encounter was widely reported in March after Brown confessed to Piers Morgan that they had slept together during the height of the Spice Girls fame.
She made the claim after Morgan persistently questioned Brown on her sexual history with Halliwell during an interview for his Life Stories series.
When Morgan asked whether she had slept with Halliwell “like that”, Brown smiled and nodded.
She said: “She’s [Halliwell] going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house and her husband [Formula One racing boss Christian Horner].
“But it’s a fact. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it.”
Halliwell denied Brown’s sexual encounter claim telling the MailOnline that it was “disappointing to read about all these rumours again”.
A statement released on Halliwell’s behalf said: “Geri loves the Spice Girls: Emma, Melanie, Melanie and Victoria.
“She would like [the fans] to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family.”
The Spice Girls’ Glastonbury rumours.
As well as discussing her sex rumours, Brown also revealed to Johnathan Ross what the Spice Girls thought about the Glastonbury rumours.
She revealed that after the high of The Spice Girls World Tour, she was ready to perform at the legendary Somerset festival.
In response to Glastonbury 50th anniversary line up, she hinted that the Victoria Beckham might even be returning.
She said: “I’m always going to say yes [we’re doing it] because I’m the one… I’m the one that’s always like, ‘Spice Girls will live forever!’ We’ve had bits and bobs of conversations, yeah [about Glastonbury], with all five of us.”
Clarifying that meant the possibility of all five Spice Girls playing the beloved Pyramid Stage, she said: “I hope so. She hasn’t mentioned it for the sake of just mentioning it.”
The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday, 28 September, at 10.30pm on ITV.
