9 of the funniest moments from RuPaul’s Drag Race Pit Stop

RuPaul’s Drag Race recap show The Pit Stop is now an iconic franchise within itself – so here are the nine most iconic moments of all time.

Ever since 2016, when season eight of RuPaul’s Drag Race hit our TV screens and Bob the Drag Queen sailed to glory, weekly episodes of the show have been accompanied by web series The Pit Stop.

Hosted by everyone from Raja to Trixie Mattel, Monét X Change to Bianca Del Rio – but not Nina West – and featuring a different Drag Race alum as a guest every week, the recaps have produced almost as many iconic moments as the show itself.

As Global All Stars kicks off, and with season 17 of the flagship franchise and All Stars 10 round the corner, here are nine of the most iconic Pit Stop moments of all time.

‘Peronka’

The only international season of Drag Race to receive an official Pit Stop was the inaugural season of Canada’s Drag Race – and the first entry on our list features Global All Stars diva Alyssa Edwards and most frequent Pit Stop host, Trixie Mattel.

Speaking about the episode’s ‘Miss Loose Jaw’ pageant, which saw eventual season winner Priyanka put into the bottom, Alyssa gave viewers some commentary on the queen’s attitude, uttering an accidental nickname that has followed the queen since.

“I think Peronka is struggling mentally,” she told Trixie. And just like that, Peronka was born.

Kandy Muse’s brutal Shannel takedown

We’re not sure if it’s recency bias, but Kandy Muse’s devastating read of All Stars 9 competitor Shannel has been living rent free in our head ever since it was uttered.

With host Trixie Mattel, Kandy was there to recap the season’s acting challenge, Meeting in the Ladies Room. While there, Trixie reminded Kandy that RuPaul himself had given Shannel – who returned from season one and All Stars 1 – some encouraging words of advice, calling her one of the most famous drag queens in the world.

That’s when Kandy took Trixie’s prompt cards to ask a very fair question: “Is Shannel really one of the most famous drag queens in the world?” Ouch.

Is Nicole Byer a drag queen?

Not only is Bob the Drag Queen a thief, according to Monét X Change, but the younger sibling herself is a liar, too. That’s not shady, that’s factual.

The proof is in the Pit Stop episode from season 16’s finale, and more specifically, when Trixie bought up frequent Drag Race guest judge Nicole Byer, and Monét pretended she thought – and always had done – that Nicole was a drag queen.

So good was Monét’s fibbery, in fact, that Trixie fully bought it – until a crew member prompted her to reconsider. Get Monét on The Traitors, stat.

Raven’s legendary Raja read

Legendary season three winner Raja famously beat out Manila Luzon and Alexis Mateo way back in 2011, and has since hosted three seasons of The Pit Stop.

Alongside an iconic Michelle Visage read with Bob The Drag Queen, one of Raja’s most memorable moments was when bestie Raven reminded her that not everyone was happy with her crown.

“Have we seen this in RuPaul’s Drag Race history before, where a queen who deserves to win doesn’t win?” Raja asked.

“Yeah,” Raven said. “Manila.” And that‘s shade.

Violet Chachki and the season 13 ball

This entry is less of a ‘moment’ and more of an entire episode of The Pit Stop.

Season seven champion Violet Chachki joined former castmate and All Stars 3 champ Trixie Mattel to dissect the Ball challenge from season 13 – which, for those unable to remember, featured Lala Ri’s infamous bag look.

There was the classic: “Do you sew?” line for Trixie, the season seven victor eviscerating Utica’s runway walk, Ms. Chachki calling drag queens ‘clothing secretaries’ and Violet just saying: “No” to about 50% of the looks presented. A classic of the genre.

‘Black stockings, white shoes, shouldn’t be allowed in the church’

It’s Trixie Mattel as host again, but this time, with fellow All Stars 3 finalist Kennedy Davenport, as the pair took apart All Stars 6‘s ‘Pink Table Talk’ challenge.

The highlight for us came when commentary turned to the runway portion of the episode, and Ms. Kennedy, who recently returned to Canada Vs. The World, took issue with Jan’s runway look.

The ensemble featured patterned purple stockings going into white pumps, and Kennedy took us all to prayer by saying: “They sing a song that goes like this: ‘Black stockings, white shoes, shouldn’t be allowed in the church.'”

‘Cheryl Canning’

Drag Race legend Mo Heart joined Trixie Mattel to dissect episode four of All Stars 6, which saw the queens partake in the iconic Drag Race Hall of Fame Halftime Show.

Pandora Boxx performed as Cheryl Canning. Please note there the order of the ‘Ch’ and the ‘C’ sounds in the icon’s names.

When discussing the show, Mo Heart failed to do so, referring to Pandora Boxx’s performance as ‘Cheryl Canning,’ which prompted Trixie to peel off into fits of laughter. Things only get more iconic as Mo doubled down on the mispronounciation.

Love Pink!’

In our lovely runner-up position – by just a hair – is Thorgy Thor‘s love/hate of pop star P!nk.

Thorgy and Bob the Drag Queen were there to discuss the final of All Stars 7, which featured a lipsync smackdown in the first ever All Winners tournament. Monét and Trinity the Tuck lipsynced to “So What” by P!nk, prompting Bob to ask Thorgy what she thought of the singer.

“I’m not really a huge P!nk fan,” Thorgy replied, adding: “I really just don’t like her. She’s a bad seed on this earth.”

To counter the tongue-in-cheek jest, the pair reset. Bob asked the question again, and Thorgy birthed the iconic line: “LOVE P!nk!” Love P!nk.

‘It’s fashion’

Was there ever any doubt? Taking it all the way back to season nine’s recap with Bob the Drag Queen and Peppermint, it’s the iconic “But is it fashion?”

To set the scene, Bob and Pep were discussing season 12’s second split premiere, involving a Spring/Summer fashion show. But when Peppermint attempted to compliment the season’s eventual winner Jaida Essence Hall, things descended into sartorially-minded chaos.

“It’s fashion, meets-” Peppermint began before belching, and descending into laughter. “It’s fashion – excuse me – it’s fashion… it’s fashion.”

“Wait, but is it fashion?” Bob replied. “It’s fashion,” confirmed Peppermint. Classic.
