Several members of a Blackburn family who were caught on CCTV attempting to kidnap their sister’s same-sex partner have been jailed.

Preston Crown Court heard that Nazma Ditta’s partner Sarah-Jane Harrison was walking down a centrally located street when some of her family punched and attacked Ms Harrison. They then attempted to bundle her into a car.

Yesterday, Tamoor Ditta, 26, admitted conspiracy to commit actual bodily harm and attempted kidnap. He was sentenced to six years in prison.

Nazma Ditta’s sisters Ghazala Ditta, 31, Aftah Ditta, 32, and Nighat Morris, 39, were sentenced to five years and four months in prison after they admitted conspiring on social media to commit actual bodily harm, kidnap and robbery.

Tosif Ditta, 34, and Nayyar Mehmood, 38, face a three years and six months sentence after they admitted conspiracy to commit actual bodily harm

After Nazma Ditta moved in with Ms Harrison, she was text by her brother to say: “I am dead to you, delete my number.”

The court was told that the family told Ms Harrison: “You’ve messed with the wrong Muslims, we’re going to kill you.”

Sophie Lorimer, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “The defendants lay in wait for almost an hour before they managed to grab and attack the victim.

“Fortunately, due to the bravery of the victim, they did not succeed in the kidnap attempt as she found the strength to defend herself”.
