US: Thieves steal teen’s phone and use it to text his mother ‘I’m gay’
A group of thieves beat up a 16-year-old for his phone and then used it to text the victim’s mother “I’m gay.”
Seattle police report the victim was waiting for the bus and looking at his phone on Southwest Barton Street around 4 pm when he was suddenly punched in the face.
According to KATU, he looked up, and four men attacked him. The victim told officers he had dropped his phone and backpack while trying to fight back.
The assailants then reportedly walked off with the victim’s phone and backpack with them.
When the 16-year-old got home, his mother told him she had received a text message from his phone reading, “I’m gay, you know that.”
The victim, who suffered a cut to his face and may need a tooth removed, told officers he believed one of the suspects to be a former schoolmate.
The suspect was a 16-year-old Hispanic man about 5 ft 8 with a medium build and short black hair with a lip ring.
He did not recognise the three other suspects.
