Katie Hopkins: NHS shouldn’t pay for IVF for gay couples
Katie Hopkins has claimed that gay and lesbian couples shouldn’t be allowed fertility treatment on on the NHS – and described diversity officers as “lunatics”.
The controversy-mongerĀ made the comments in a column for the Sun, in which she defended the right of the UK Independence Party’s LGBT groupĀ to march at Pride in London.
She wrote: “What I do care about is when a community that preaches inclusivity and tolerance is suddenly exceptionally intolerant of anyone with an opposing view.
āThose putting pressure on Pride in London to make this decision are exactly the type of people who make gross assumptions about me because I do not have the beauty pageant answer for everything.
āNo I donāt think the NHS should pay for IVF for gay couples. Yes, all diversity officers are lunatics.
āBut do I cheerlead you every step of the way to be who you want to do and sod what other people say (including myself)? Yes I chuffing do.”
Curiously, the columnistĀ didn’t mention her own links to UKIP, as part of former UKIP MEP Nikki Sinclaire’s now-defunctĀ ‘We Demand a Referendum’ party.
Hopkins previously rejected claims that she “gatecrashed”Ā theĀ British LGBT Awards – sharing her VIP invitation after organisers claimed that she wasn’t invited.
Organisers Square Peg MediaĀ had denied that Hopkins was invited after she caused controversy at the event – but the columnist shared a copy ofĀ her invitation, which even came with freeĀ transport to and from the event.
