Mrs Brownā€™s Boys star Rory Cowan says that he routinely gets proposals from women ā€“ despite being openly gay.

Cowan appears in the comedy series as Rory Brown ā€“ the third son of Agnes Brown (Brendan Oā€™Carroll). Both the character and actor are openly gay.

However, despite his sexuality, Cowan told the Irish Mirror heā€™s had two proposals from straight women during the showā€™s live tour.

He explained: ā€œI have had two wedding proposals again ā€“ I turned them down but I kept both of the rings.

ā€œThey were both during our Melbourne run ā€“ one on Tuesday night and the other on Saturday.

ā€œThe rings are beautiful ā€“ one is an Australian opal ring and the other is like two glitter balls, itā€™s very bling.

ā€œI wear them both on stage but I explained to one woman: ā€˜Listen, Iā€™m gayā€™ and she said it didnā€™t matter that we would be compatible.ā€

He added: ā€œI got two proposals the last time I was in Australia as well ā€“ so maybe itā€™s just going to become one of those things like throwing your knickers at Tom Jones.

ā€œIā€™ll be staying single ā€“ and Iā€™m certainly not marrying a woman.ā€

Mrs Brown last year recorded a special message ahead of Irelandā€™s equal marriage referendum, asking people to vote yes.

She said: ā€œWhen two people love each other, you should allow then to get married. Whatā€™s all the fecking fuss?ā€
