New viral meme ‘big dick energy’ is gender-neutral, says creator
The Twitter user who made “big dick energy” into a meme has said that it is a gender-neutral concept.
Big dick energy – or BDE, if you prefer – took off online after Ariana Grande, whose latest song “No Tears Left to Cry” was dubbed a gay icon by fans, allegedly tweeted that her new fiancé Pete Davidson has a 10-inch penis.
From there, the meme gained popularity in much the same way as Is This a Pigeon? – which was turned into both a transgender meme and a bisexual meme – but in a slightly more NSFW way.
The phrase started to gather popularity on Twitter at the end of May, but was turned into a meme on June 23 by a user called Teen.
They posted the message: “Pete Davidson is 6’3 with dark circles, exudes big dick energy, looks evil but apparently is an angel, and loves his girl publicly the only thing wrong w him is that he’s a scorpio but anyway…..id married him within a month too.”

The post went viral, attracting more than 186,000 retweets and likes, and others jumped on the phrase, tweeting remarks like: “ive had 5 people tell me upon meeting me IRL that they thought i was taller and that, to me, means i have big dick energy.”

And another user explained: “‘big dick energy’ is confidence without cockiness. it is never misplaced, and it cannot be simulated. it is the sexual equivalent of writing a check for $10K knowing you got it in the bank account.

Now Teen, whose username is babyvietcong, has clarified the nature of big dick energy, which she says does not just apply to men, or indeed to people with penises.
She wrote: “As the tweeter who successfully launched the phrase “big dick energy” into national attention, i just want to say that doing hard drugs, upholding capitalism, supporting ICE is not big dick energy.
as the tweeter who successfully launched the phrase “big dick energy” into national attention, i just want to say that doing hard drugs, upholding capitalism, supporting ICE is not big dick energy. Big dick energy is gender neutral. And it is most certainly communist.

“Big dick energy is gender neutral. And it is most certainly communist.”
So now you know: this meme was built on the factually accurate belief that anyone of any gender can possess a masculine or dominant energy – and that separating children from their parents is very much not indicative of BDE.
The sheer number of LGBT memes which go viral is a wonderful sight to behold, just like the phenomenon of every mainstream meme being turned into an LGBT version of itself by our wonderful community.
Even the girlfriend vs the other girl meme circulating the internet last year got a lesbian twist ending that delighted audiences and quickly went viral.
