Artist of the year winner Bad Bunny shook fans after kissing a man during his remote performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) ceremony last night.

The Puerto-Rican rapper casually shared a passionate kiss with one of his male back-up dancers while performing his hit song “Tití Me Preguntó” to thousands of fans in Yankee Stadium.

The iconic moment came just after he became the first ever non-English speaking act to win artist of the year.

The performance – surrounded by Dominican Republic flags and dancers dressed in over-the-top wedding dresses screaming “bi rights” – saw Bad Bunny snog a female back-up dancer before turning to a male dancer.

Some fans pointed out the parallels it had on the anniversary of the infamous Madonna and Britney Spears kiss at the 2003 VMAs.

While others simply praised Bad Bunny for the chaotic behaviour and wondered when it would be their shot.

“Lmaoo Bad Bunny just said bi rights!!!” one fan wrote.

Another added: “Everyone and their mother kissing Bad Bunny, when will it be MY time to kiss him?”

Bad Bunny was also praised by fans for delivering his poignant acceptance speech in Spanish, following acts such as BTS in delivering his speech in his native language.

I don’t have the words to describe what I’m feeling,” he said in Spanish, “The pride I’m feeling to be at Yankee Stadium accepting this award

“I always knew from the start that I could become [one of] the biggest stars without having to change my culture or my language. I’m Benito Antonio Martinez from Puerto Rico, to the entire world.”

Bad Bunny has long been an LGBTQ+ rights advocate, from protesting against Puerto Rico’s governor for his damaging views on gender and sexuality in 2019, to calling out artists such as Don Omar for their anti-gay comments.

In an interview in 2020 when asked about his sexuality he responded:It does not define me, at the end of the day, I don’t know if in 20 years I will like a man. One never knows in life. But at the moment I am heterosexual and I like women.”

While some people on social media have added the kiss into the ongoing discourse about music artists such as Harry Styles and Billie Eilish supposedly queer baiting , others have said it is not that deep and to just go with the moment.
