US: Fox news mocks the idea of gender-neutral toilets
Fox news presenters have shown that they are confused by the idea behind a university’s new gender-neutral toilet labels.
Earlier this month Illinois State University released information that they would be changing their ‘family’ toilets to ‘all-gender’ toilets to help accommodate transgender students.
“Having a gender-neutral bathroom, gives them a facility that they can use and they can feel comfortable about,” David Bentlin assistant in the Division of Student Affairs at ISU, told the University’s official paper The Vidette.
Fox News’ morning segment Fox & Friends has spent a number of sessions mocking the decision, which they all seem to be “a little confused by.”
Last Thursday, Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy went out on the streets of New York City to ask a group of ‘Fox fans’ what they thought of the new bathroom signs. Doocy did not get the reaction he was looking for.
The Fox & Friends hosts seemed crest fallen at the lack of public outrage expressed by civilian participants. Brian Kilmeade commented: “they’re better people than us. I could not figure it out and we had the story in front of us. It makes no sense.”
In the past the show has mocked gender-neutral passports, passport applications, college housing policies, student forms, and marriage licenses. All of which included minor alterations to include the LGBT community.
