Anti-gay Marco Rubio accidentally features Canada in ‘Morning in America’ ad
Things are going pretty bad for Republican Presidential hopeful Marco Rubio – who just made a monumental slip in an ad.
Rubio was once considered a moderate in his party, but has tacked right hard in recent months on LGBT issues, claiming that God’s law “trumps” the Supreme Court on equal marriage.
The candidate has outlined plans to demand a Supreme Court ‘do-over’ on same-sex marriage after rigging the court with new right-leaning justices, potentially voiding thousands of existing marriages.
He has also pledged to repeal Barack Obama’s landmark Executive Order outlawing homophobic and transphobic discrimination among federal contractors – the only federal law that currently protects workers from being sacked for being gay or trans.
However, despite believing in the ‘traditional’ definition of marriage between one man and one woman, Senator Rubio seems to have a fairly non-traditional definition of ‘America’, according to his new ad.
The narrator in the ad claims: “It’s morning again in America… today, more men and women are out of work than ever before in our nation’s history.”
The catch? It’s actually playing over a clip of a boat, sporting a small Canadian flag, in Vancouver Bay.
The Vancouver Sun picked up the ad, noting that it features a tugboat that “zips through the water in front of familiar Vancouver landmarks like the Harbour Centre, One Wall Centre and Port Metro Vancouver cranes”.
The newspaper added: “It’s unmistakably Vancouver… the tugboat also appears to be flying a Canadian flag.”
