YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa continues to be a source of inspiration for LGBT+ youth as she showcased the perfect reaction after a fan asked her to stop talking about being gay at her concerts.

The 18-year-old famously came out in January 2021 by sharing a photo of herself to Twitter wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the words: “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever.”

The teen superstar was performing in Columbia, South Carolina, during her ongoing tour when a fan named Briana Spradley captured a truly iconic moment on video.

The Nickelodeon star opened up to the crowd about receiving a demand for her not to mention being gay while on stage as she explained: “I never know how I want to start this speech, but tonight someone actually gave me inspiration.

“And it’s somebody in here, and I saw it on Twitter. This person tweeted, and they said, ‘Hey JoJo I’m coming to you’re show tonight, please don’t say you’re gay.’”

JoJo Siwa then continued: “So I’m going to take their advice and I’m not gonna say it, instead I’m gonna do something else.”

At which point the Dancing with the Stars runner-up raised a rainbow Pride flag with her happy smiling face on it and waved it in front of her cheering crowd.

Spradley shared two more TikTok videos from Siwa’s speech in which the star stated: “Hi my name is JoJo, and I’ve shared over half of my life with the world.

“And being gay is a part of who I am. And one thing that I want to teach everybody is that being who you are is the most important thing ever.”

In the third video, Siwa continued: “You know it might be your hair, it might be the colour of your skin, it might be who you love. But I want to remind you all, that thing that is different about you is what makes you special.

“Being gay isn’t weird. This rainbow pride flag represents love, and this rainbow pride flag represents equality, and this represents being yourself.”

The singer concluded: “Here’s what I want you to take home. I want you to wake up tomorrow, and I want you to be a little bit more proud of yourself, and want you to love yourself just a little bit more. And I also want all of you to celebrate others just a little bit more.”

JoJo Siwa, who has been described as a “gay icon” by drag queens Izzy Uncut and Poppy, recently celebrated her coming out anniversary with an Instagram post.

The social media star, who has more than 12 million subscribers on YouTube, said she has “felt more love than ever” during the past year as she wrote: “In the last 365 days I’ve felt more love than ever.

“A year ago today I posted this picture and shared with the world that I was gay. I get asked a lot ‘was coming out scary for you’… and the answer is yes of course, anything that’s different about you is scary, however… it’s what makes me… me. So I had no fear with sharing it with the world.”

She vowed to continue being the representation so many kids need, adding: “Truthfully I feel like I was put on this earth to be a role model for kids, and letting all the kids of the world know that loving everyone for who they are no matter what is something that I will always believe in and always share.”
