The singer with Queen says he’s slept with high-profile closeted stars.

The American Idol star told Glamour magazine there were many very famous men who were not openly gay and he said: “I’ve been with a few of them.”

Asked why he thinks they haven’t come out, he said: “Whether itā€™s music or acting, you’ve got to remember that those industries are primarily run by men, so maybe itā€™s about that.

“But with women being the primary movie goers and record-buyers, surely it shouldn’t matter so much?”

Mr Lambert has previously said he believes the music industry is becoming less homophobic. He said: “Itā€™s quickly changing along with society. Iā€™m thrilled. We have entered a time with a much more level playing field.

He also said he had slept with a woman for the first time. “I’ve slept with a woman before. I did it for the first time when I was 29.

“It was a random thing but I was very curious. It felt great.

“I think women are beautiful ā€“ and I always notice when girls smell really good. Like most gay men, I’m drawn to confident women.”

In January the singer – who has been performing with the band Queen – talked about not wanting people to think he was “replacing” Freddie Mercury.Ā

He hopes singing with Queen will help open people’s minds.
