Donald Trump won’t fire people for being gay

The Republican presidential candidate has said employees should not be sacked based on sexuality.

The controversial billionaire – who has (rather ironically) made a TV career from firing people – also said he was “fine with affirmative action” during an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press.

Trump made the comments after he was asked by an interviewer whether private companies should fire employees simply due to their sexuality.

“Well, it’s a big discussion and I guess it’s getting a lot of negative rulings right now… and I’m willing courts to go with what the courts are saying.”

Asked the question a second time, he said: “I don’t think it should be a reason, no.”

So far during the campaign, Mr Trump has claimed that Mexican immigrants include “rapists” and bring “drugs and crime” – and insisted he believe in ‘traditional’ marriage despite being married three times.

“I live in New York. New York is a place with lots of gays, and I think it’s great but I’m not in favour of gay marriage,” he stated.

“I’m a very conservative person. I’m very big into [sic] the military. I’m a great guy for defence. I’m probably as conservative as anybody on your show, and that’s probably going a very big step.”

It was later alleged that the reality TV star – who has already been sacked by NBC – paid actors $50 each to pretend to support him at his Presidential launch.

He also leaked the personal phone number of one of his rivals, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, during a televised speech.

Last week, he landed himself in more hot water due to comments he made about a debate host’s menstrual cycle.

The former Apprentice boss made the comments about Fox News’ Megyn Kelly. who hosted the Republican leadership debate last Wednesday.

In comments made after the hustings, Trump suggested Kelly had given him a hard time on statements he has made about women in the past, because she was menstruating.

Speaking to CNN, he said Kelly “had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
