Ted Cruz’s biggest donors claim ‘predatory’ gays ‘want your children’
Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz accepted a $15 million donation to his Super PAC from an anti-LGBT billionaire who thinks gays are “predatory”
Infamous Texas pastors Farris and Dan Wilks – who made their billions in the Texas fracking boom – have donated $15 million to the candidate’s Keep the Truth Super PAC, according to the Daily Beast. The amount is substantial, given the total donations amount to just $38 million.
The pair told CNN: “Our country was founded on the idea that our rights come from the Creator, not the government. I’m afraid we’re losing that.
“Unless we elect a principled conservative leader ready to stand up for our values, we’ll look back on what once was the land of opportunity and pass on a less prosperous nation to our children and grandchildren. That’s why we need Ted Cruz.”
The pair have been known for shockingly anti-gay views – with Farris Wilks branding gay people “predators” in one sermon.
According to Right Wing Watch, he said: “If we all took on this lifestyle, all humanity would perish in one generation…So this lifestyle is a predatorial lifestyle in that they need your children and straight people having kids to fulfill their sexual habits.
“They can’t do it by their self. They want your children….But we’re in a war for our children.
“They want your children. So what will you teach your children? A strong family is the last defense.”
Wilks added: “What we’re fighting against today is not a sexual revolution particular to our own enlightened age, but it’s a return to pre-Christian pagan sexual immorality or perversion.”
Senator Cruz is also notorious for anti-LGBT views, and was one of four Republican Presidential candidates to sign a pledge to amend the Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
It’s not the first homophobic extremist Cruz has ties with – in recent weeks he ducked calls to condemn a pastor he shared a stage with, who repeatedly said gay people should be put to death.
Cruz was challenged about the views of Pastor Kevin Swanson prior to attending his rally, but declined to condemn him.
Swanson repeated his comments at the event attended by Cruz, shouting: “Yes, Leviticus calls for the death penalty for homosexuals! Yes, the Apostle Paul does say that homosexuals are worthy of death! His words, not mine, and [screaming] I AM NOT ASHAMED! I am not ashamed of the truth of the word of God!”
Also at the event, Swanson also called for children to be drowned rather than allowed to read Harry Potter.
However, despite repeated requests for comment from from campaigners and media outlets, Cruz has still not spoken out against him.
