Will & Grace star Leslie Jordan has become a breakout Instagram star, thanks to his hilarious daily updates.
The out actor, 64, is providing amusement to millions with the clips, as he exercises, shows off his cats, sings, and tells hilarious anecdotes from his life in showbiz.
Leslie Jordan is officially winning at social distancing.
He recalls many notable moments from his career, from playing a frozen corpse on Boston Legal to helping to rescue a cat on the set of The Help.
In others, he simply says what we’re all feeling.
He complain: “Well, s**t. This is awful, it’s still March! How many days in March? When is April gonna f**king get here?”
Speaking to Today, the actor said: “I didn’t realise (I blew up) until last night when everybody started calling me telling me you’ve gone viral. I don’t really even know what that means!”
Of his motive for the videos, he said: “I had this friend right when the pandemic hit, he said, ‘You know what, Leslie? Your thoughts are exactly what people need to hear right now. It’s not like wagging your finger or saying wear your mask, or do this. or do that. You’re just funny.’ And so we started coming up with all kinds of little ideas.
“Mainly I do it for the response of the people.”
He added: “I’m not a nurse or a doctor or a teacher, but I can make people laugh. That is a gift and that is meant to be shared.
“There are a lot of lonely people right now. If I can make just one person feel a little less alone, then I have done my job in this.”
Will & Grace star shares lessons from the AIDS pandemic.
While it’s all fun, the actor knows more than most the importance of fostering a sense of community during hard times.
He said: “The gay community came out of AIDS closer, and I think the world will be closer after this.
