Pride flags finally come to Call of Duty Warzone in new update, even if it’s a bit late

The Pride flags in Call of Duty

Pride flags have been added to Call of Duty Warzone to celebrate the LGBT+ community, over half of the way through Pride Month.

Eight flags are available in total, representing a wide spectrum of the community, and are available for free for all players.

Developer Raven Software shared the news on their Twitter account.

“Happy Pride Month! As a part of our celebration, we are adding 8 new Pride flags for free for all #Warzone players!” they said.

“Diversity and inclusion are important to us and we are excited to expand our in-game representation of LGBTQIA+ identities in honor of Pride Month.”

The Pride flags come as part of the Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 update, which includes new maps, weapons, points of interest and modes. Check out the patch notes here.

It’s a shame, however, that the flags were included halfway through the month, lagging behind other developers.

And while the flags are a welcome addition and follow other online games with similar features, it’s something of a token effort – especially when the Call of Duty community isn’t known for its LGBT+ support.

The response to the news on Twitter was mixed, as expected. The usual toxic players threatened to leave the game.

But at least some gamers were thankful for the inclusion.

We hope Raven Software continues to support diversity and inclusion within Call of Duty and the community beyond Pride month.

Other developers have also been celebrating Pride month, some more than others.

The likes of Xbox and Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive have had a whole host of Pride initiatives and donations, while Square Enix asked fans to name their new Pride mascot.

Other games like Apex Legends, League of Legends, Rocket League and Fall Guys all included Pride emotes and/or skins.
