If you can hardly wait to see Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott appear together in the upcoming queer romantic fantasy All of Us Strangers, maybe this photo of them partying in a gay bar will suffice.

The photo, which went viral on Monday night (23 October), saw the co-stars taking shots together in celebration of Scott’s 47th birthday.

Scott and Mescal were joined by fellow Irish actor and Handsome Devil star Fionn O’Shea at Spain’s LaLupe gay bar.

And if you thought the hype over Mescal and Scott was big before, just wait until you see how fans responded to these gay bar pics.

“Paul Mescal, Andrew Scott and Fionn O’Shea currently partying together is the best news I got this week,” tweeted one fan.

“I [heart] the great and proud nation of ireland,” wrote a second.

And a third very reasonably commented: “This is my Heartstopper…”

Fans just have to wait a little while longer to see Scott and Mescal on the big screen for Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers.

The film, which also stars Claire Foy and Jamie Bell, has been described as an utterly “heart-wrenching” watch, flooded with “tender sex scenes, a vibrant gay club scene, sincere conversations about grief, and the steady thrum of joy found in blossoming love.”

It tells the story of Adam (Scott), a mildly depressed screenwriter in his mid-forties. He seems to keep running into his mysterious neighbour Harry (Mescal) in the London tower block where they both live.

As their relationship blossoms, Adam is drawn back to his home in a suburban area of Croydon, where he encounters his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) as ghosts, looking exactly the same as they did when they died, 30 years before.

Through his paranormal encounters, Adam manages to come out to his mother and father and begins to immerse himself in his romance with Harry. He’s also able to ask his deceased parents the questions he never got an answer to when they were alive.

Ahead of the film’s release, Haigh hasn’t been able to say enough good things about the chemistry between Scott and Mescal.

“I love them both, I think they are brilliant actors but it’s about how they work together,” Haigh told PinkNews.

“Seeing them together, there was just chemistry inherent in their relationship. My job is just enhancing [that].”

This film just can’t come soon enough – but until then, let the viral photos roll in.

All of Us Strangers is due to open in the US on 22 December and in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 26 January, 2024.
