University launches gay network
Ice skating and drinks at Camp David will mark the inaugural event for a new professional LGBT network at Newcastle University.
The network has been called Mosaic to reflect “the inclusivity of the network while recognising the individuality of its members and connoting that joining the network will be a positive contribution to the bigger picture.”
It is open to students, staff and alumni of the university, which is home to more than 23,000 people.
The network aims to see a greater affinity for LGBT issues across the campus and beyond, as well as to provide a new mechanism for support for individuals and groups within the University.
Newcastle University is the third largest employer in the city, with 4,500 staff and 17,000 students.
A warm up event is being held on Friday 8th February 2008 at 6pm with ice skating at the Centre for Life and 7:30pm drinks upstairs at Camp David.
