Queer Eye’s Jonathan posts hilarious Doug the Pug video to celebrate release of season two

Queer Eye‘s Jonathan Van Ness has posted an entertaining video of internet sensation Doug the Pug to celebrate the release of the show’s second season.

The grooming expert posted a video of the celebrity dog taking on the Fab Five’s various roles in a mock Queer Eye trailer, complete with the show’s new theme tune “All Things” by Betty Who.

Paying homage to Van Ness, the pug, who has 3.4 million followers on Instagram, wears a wig in one part of the video.

Other references to the Fab Five include Doug the Pug browsing a wardrobe – just like fashion expert Tan France – and staring at himself in the mirror, possibly a reference to Karamo Brown’s role as culture guru.

At one point, the dog is even confronted with an avocado – one of food expert Antoni Porowski’s favourite ingredients in season one.

The pug, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee, also briefly wears an adorable rainbow-stripped neckerchief and hat.

There is, however,  no clear nod to Bobby Berk’s job as design expert.

Van Ness captioned the video: “Happy Queer Eye S2 @itsdougthepug wig. So much wig.”

The grooming expert’s catchphrase – “can you believe?” – can also be heard in the video.

Happy Queer Eye S2 @itsdougthepug wig. So much wig.

The second season is more diverse in terms of the people the Fab Five makeover, including a transgender man called Skyler.

The new season shows also shows the Fab Five giving a woman named Tammye a makeover, with Bobby Berk refurbishing her church’s community space.

Earlier this year, France spoke about working with Skyler.

“I had never interacted with a trans person before, I’d never met a trans person before. And so it gave me an opportunity to ask questions that I have never been able to ask before,” he told Press Association.

“For example, what was it that when they realised they wanted to have top surgery (a surgical procedure carried out on the breasts of transgender patients), what made him decide that was the final thing that was going to change this process for him, that would really make him feel like a man?”
