As America careens towards an election partly defined by issues of racial justice, Riley reported that a Trump supporter attacked her for no apparent reason other than her existing.

“What does being a Trump supporter mean?” she questioned in a series of Instagram Stories.

“Because I just drove into a parking lot and this older white man with a Trump hat on decided to jump in front of my f**king car.

“[He took] his Trump hat off, used it as some kind of badge telling me I needed to stop, pointing at the Trump supporter part of his hat.

“When I was like, ‘whatever, move along’, this motherf***er spit on my car.”

Riley continued: “In 2020, he saw a Black woman, decided he was going to try and punk me, and the motherf***er decided to spit on my car.”

“I really honestly don’t have words for this. I can ignore your racist bulls**t, but when it comes to assault, this is not a game.

“I’m done being nice. I don’t care who you guys support, I care about the way that you’re trying to make people feel.”

The actor and singer stressed that she “cares” about “trying to make people feel less than”.

“I care about you keeping your hands to yourself, I care about you keeping your comments to yourself, and I care about you keeping your bodily fluids to yourself.”

The incident sparked an outpouring of support for the star.

She later to took to Twitter to thank her followers, adding: “I’m good today. No one will ever take my peace.

“I’d rather put less [attention] on that and more on positive things we can do to fight the real pandemic in America. Please find local organisations that help in the fight against racism and join!”
