From Far Cry 6 to Resident Evil Village, here are the most anticipated new games set for release in 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch and more.

We may still be in lockdown but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it in style. Ending last year on a high note with the release of the next-gen consoles; the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S, this year the games announced set for release in 2021 are top tier. So we’ve compiled a list of the games we’re excited about and to ready play.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury – 12 February

This critically acclaimed game will finally be debuting in four days’ time and we cannot wait. Join Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad on a quest to save the Sprixie Kingdom in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, rescue the Sprixie Princess and her followers by yourself or with three other players in this enhanced version of Super Mario 3D World.

Then, either alone or with a friend, help Bowser Jr turns his papa back to normal in an all-new bonus adventure, Bowser’s Fury. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will be released this Friday on Nintendo Switch.

It’s available to preorder from Currys PC World at £49.99 and will be delivered on release day.

Deathloop21 May


Bethesda, Arkane Studios

One of the most talked-about reveals last year during PlayStation’s live showcase was Arkane Studios’ latest first-person shooter action-adventure game Deathloop. The game, set in the 1960s, sees two extraordinary rival assassins trapped in a mysterious time loop on the island of Blackreef repeat the same day of eternity as they try to escape.

On a mission to find a way to stop the time loop trapping the island in the endless cycle, the assassins will battle it out (and repeatedly die again, and again, and again) to try and escape the death loop. Deathloop will be available on Playstation 5 and PC on 21 May, with a later version coming to Xbox next year.

Resident Evil VillageMay 7


As far as survival horror games go, it doesn’t get more gruesome and horrifying than the Resident Evil series. It’s the eighth major instalment in the storied franchise is set a few years after the horrifying events in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again. Resident Evil Village is set for release 7 May on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

Far Cry 6TBA 2021

Not only is the Far Cry franchise one of the most thrilling action-adventure first-person shooter series to exist but it’s also one of the most consistent. After the announcement back in July last year, its sixth instalment Far Cry 6 (which was originally scheduled for release this February) will finally be in the hands of gamers everywhere later this year.

Set in the war-torn world of Yara, a fictional Caribbean island loosely based on Cuba ruled as a dictatorship by El Presidente Antón Castillo (portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito), The player will take the role of guerilla fighter Dani Rojas, attempting to topple Castillo and his regime. Far Cry 6 will be available on several platforms Amazon Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Stadia later this year.

Boyfriend Dungeon – TBA 2021

Kitfox Games’ up-and-coming release of Boyfriend Dungeon is an interesting, sweet but action-y take on dating. With a chance to capture the hearts of weapons to level them up in a playful shack-and-slash dungeon crawling adventure, Boyfriend Dungeon is set to mend hearts everywhere.

Allowing you to date up to nine weapons, from dancing swords to heart-piercing daggers, generate combat dunj and challenges to stay sharp and take your weapon-babes on romantic outings, such as to the club or the beach. This LGBT-friendly game is inclusive – tastefully approaching gender and sexuality with the male, female, and non-binary characters – and is the talk on everyone’s lips. Boyfriend Dungeon will be available on PC and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart – 11 June

You may have seen this image blasted around PlayStation in the last couple of months and that’s because Insomniac Games is giving us a brand new Ratchet and Clank adventure. With more gadgets, worlds, and dimensions to discover, including a new playable female character Lombax, the critically acclaimed game is ranking high on everyone’s list. Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart will be available on PS5 later this year.

Horizon Forbidden West – Q3/Q4 2021

This up-and-coming action role-playing game has been the talk of the town for quite some while now. Developed by Guerrilla Games, the sequel to Horizon Zero DawnHorizon Forbidden West continues the story of Aloy, a young huntress of the Nora tribe sent on a quest to the arcane frontier known as the Forbidden West to find the source of a mysterious plague that kills all it infects. Horizon Forbidden West will be available on PS4 and PS5 later this year.

Halo Infinite – Q3/Q4 2021

The legendary Halo series returns with its sixth main entry in the Halo series (and fourteenth overall) with Halo Infinite.

Looking to be its best yet, this instalment is set on a Halo ring that has mysteriously suffered damage. It also showcased the design of Master Chief’s MJOLNIR armour to return to that seen in Halo 2 and Halo 3. When all hope is lost and humanity’s fate hangs in the balance, the Master Chief is ready to confront the most ruthless foe he’s ever faced. Begin anew and step inside the armour of humanity’s greatest hero to experience an epic adventure and finally explore the scale of the Halo ring itself.

After being delayed despite its initial planned release being November last year, Halo Infinite will be released on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S later this year.
