1,000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton comes out as pansexual: ‘Love is love’
Tammy Slaton, star of TLC’s 1,000-lb Sisters, has come out as pansexual.
The reality television star opened up about her sexuality in a clip from an upcoming episode, which was released by TMZ.
In the clip, Tammy came out to her boyfriend Jerry while sitting in a restaurant with her sister Amy, who is accompanied by husband Michael.
“So like, Jerry, I got some stuff that we need to talk about,” Tammy said in the clip.
“And what’s that? You can tell me anything,” Jerry replied.
“I am… pansexual,” Tammy said after a long pause.
Tammy’s boyfriend was initially confused and admitted to not knowing what pansexuality is.
“It means love is love,” Tammy tells him. “I would date anybody, whether they’re transgender, straight gay.”
She added: “It’s about how they make me feel and not how they look.”
1,000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton previously thought she was bisexual.
In a behind-the-scenes interview, Tammy revealed that she always thought she was bisexual until she had a conversation about pansexuality with her friend.
When her friend came out as pansexual, and explained what that meant, Tammy realised that the label best described her sexuality, too.
Thankfully, Tammy’s coming out went well. Her boyfriend Jerry simply replied: “Alright. I mean, it is what it is. I still love you though.”
He later added: “I’m still trying to figure out what it means but I’m OK with it. I love Tammy the way she is.”
Tammy said: “I’m happy that he took it pretty well. Acceptance of people’s sexuality is important to me.”
1,000-lb Sisters follows two sisters from Georgia who “have always relied on each other and food for support”, according to the official description from TLC.
The sisters first rose to prominence on YouTube when they did the “Chubby Bunny Challenge” in 2014, which requires people to fit as many marshmallows in their mouths as possible while saying the phrase “chubby bunny”.
They later found fame on their TLC show, where they have picked up a loyal and dedicated fanbase.
