One injured after shooting at San Francisco Pride
A bystander was shot in the arm at the Pride celebrations in San Francisco.
Four shots were fired when a group of young men were seen to have an altercation at the United Nations Plaza, and the 64-year-old man was caught in the crossfire.
Police confirmed that the group were unrelated the Pride event.
The man was hospitalised and is in a stable condition.
The San Francisco Police Department said in a statement: “The incident is believed to have started when several groups of men, unrelated to the PRIDE event, got in a verbal argument near or inside the venue.”
Several suspects were detained by police, according to Officer Carlos Manfredi.
It came towards the end of the city’s Pride celebrations, at a concert to mark the finale.
San Francisco has a large LGBT population, and is it known as one the most LGBT-friendly cities in the world, with hundreds of thousands of people attending the annual Pride events.
