Trans boy comes out to his mum in the most powerfully poetic way – and her reaction is the stuff queer kids dream of

Trans boy comes out

A trans boy came out to his mum in the most beautiful way, and it has sent LGBT+ people everywhere into dizzying displays of emotion.

Writer Amanda Mancino-Williams shared how her son came out as trans by leaving a note for her under the door. In the series of pages, stapled together, he opened up about his gender identity in the most artful way.

The note begins: “Dear Mum, I have created an extremely cringe little book to tell you something.”

The next page of the booklet reads: “This is a daughter (dot-er),” along with a picture of a girl painting a picture in a pointillism style.

Underneath is a picture of a boy with sun rays beaming out of him, along with the words: “This is a son (sun).”

On the next page, Mancino-Williams’ son explained: “I was originally expected to be an artist who specialised in pointillism, but I have discovered that being a ball of gas suits me better.”

He went on to explain the differences between himself and the sun, saying that, unlike the sun, he is a boy and he “does have a gender”.

“Things the sun and I have in common: Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and being your son (sun),” he added.

“Conclusion: one – I am a trans boy. Two – I am very cringey,” he closed out his note, along with a drawing of a smiling sun.

Mancino-William shared the beautiful note on Twitter, with her son’s permission, saying that her children always left notes “when there was something important to say”.

“This is a fantastic gift for all of us,” she said. “And, he wanted me to share to inspire others to be themselves.”

She added: “Just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have reached out with words of delight and support and kindness. We’ve been reading through them together and it’s been a morning of a thousand smiles. Love to you all.”

Mancino-Williams’ son has been showered with love from queer people, with many taking the time to welcome him to the LGBT+ community.

The heartwarming coming-out story has warmed the hearts of the LGBT+ community everywhere, and his mum’s response is a masterclass in parenting queer children.
