It's A Sin: The amazing merch collection that also donates to HIV charity

An amazing collection inspired by the 1980s AIDs crisis drama It’s a Sin has been created by an independent artist, and the items make amazing gifts.

The merch line features t-shirts, mugs and tote bags and has been created by an Etsy seller who is donating a portion of every sale to Terrence Higgins Trust.

Since its premiere on Channel 4 and the broadcaster’s streaming service All 4, It’s a Sin has become the most binged-watched show on the platform, with more than 6.5 million streams.

Meanwhile millions of viewers have also been tuning into the show every week on Friday nights making it Channel 4’s biggest drama launch ever.

The viewing figures and social media reaction proves that the British public are very much interested in LGBT+ stories that are also written by and starring LGBT+ people.

The passionate response to the show has also resulted in fans creating memes, prints, t-shirts and other gifts inspired by The Pink Palace gang.

One independent artist has released a range of amazing It’s a Sin gifts on their Etsy page, and what’s even better is 20 per cent of every purchase will go to Terrence Higgins Trust, the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity.

The collection by the independent store features ‘La.’ t-shirts in black or white. The phrase is used by the characters throughout the series and has since been replicated by the actors and fans of the show on social media.

Other t-shirts in the collection include a Pink Palace logo one and another with an 80s style graphic logo, while a fourth features the names of the gang Ritchie, Jill, Roscoe, Colin, Ash and Gregory, all of which are alongside a pink triangle.

Fans of the show can also get a cushion featuring the iconic line from Roscoe to his parents before he runs away from home: “23 P**s Off Avenue, London, W, F**k.”, as well as “La.” and Pink Palace ones which are priced between £15.99-£19.99.

Other cute merch items inspired by the series include mugs and tote bags which all feature the similar designs to the t-shirts and cushions like the Pink Palace classic logo and 80s style logo.

The prices of the collection start from £12.99 to £19.99, with 20% going to Terrence Higgins Trust. It’s available for UK and international shipping, and you can shop the entire collection on the Etsy store here.

Recently Philip Normal raised more than £20,000 for Terrence Higgins Trust with his ‘La’ inspired t-shirt.

He told PinkNews: “‘La’ really resonated with me, the wonderful use of the English language.

“For me, this simple use of language underpins the vulnerability of all the characters and solidifies their friendship, it’s incredibly powerful.

“Everyone has their cliques and friends, we all look after each other. [‘La’] encapsulated that love and mutual support.”

The final episode of It’s a Sin airs on Channel 4 in the UK this Friday, 19 February and the entire boxset is available to stream on All 4. In the US the series will premiere on HBO Max from 18 February.
