Drag Race icon Alaska spills true feelings on not being asked back for All Stars 7

Drag Race icon Alaska Thunderf**k has revealed her true feelings about not being invited to the all-winners All Stars 7.

As one of the biggest stars to have come out of RuPaul’s Drag Race, fans were surprised when Alaska, winner of All Stars 2, was not included in the line-up.

The new season of All Stars is a winners-only “queen of queens” competition, featuring Drag Race royalty such as Raja, Jinkx Monsoon, Shea Couleé and Monét X Change.

Reviewing the season premiere on her podcast Race Chaser, Alaska, who first competed in season five, finishing as runner-up to Jinkx, revealed she was “very apprehensive going into [this season]”.

She added: “Because when I wasn’t asked to be on it, I was very, very emotional and I was very, very hurt and sad by that.

“So, I was like, ‘Is this going to be too hard? Is it going to be really difficult for me to even watch and talk about it?’”

She then described All Stars 7, which will see no weekly eliminations for the first time in Drag Race herstory, as “incredible”, adding: “I’m so glad that this is happening with these girls. [With] the energy of ‘nobody is going home,’ everyone is just [delivering] f**king home run after home run.“

Alaska’s podcast co-star and fellow Drag Race alum, Willam, offered a theory as to why the queen wasn’t asked to compete.

“They want you competing against Sharon Needles, and Sharon Needles is not allowed on TV right now because people would scream and protest”, likely referring to a 2021 report that accused drag performer Needles of abusing a 15-year-old fan (Sharon, real name Aaron Coady, has not publicly commented on the story or the allegations).

Willam continued: “So, once she is allowed on TV again, maybe in a few years, you’ll be back to compete with her. Because they want that personal relationship between you two on display…And they can’t do that right now, so that’s why you were not asked to be there” Willam continued.

Alaska and Sharon Needles, winner of season four, were in a four-year relationship before splitting in 2013.
