Counties unite under Pride banner
The gay communities in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire have come together to form a new organisation called Three Counties Pride.
The group started life organising a festival, due to take place in 2009.
It has now diversified to include a fund-raising mission for other areas of the LGBT community in Herts, Beds and Bucks, including gay charities and social groups.
Speaking at today’s launch Craig Sharp, director of Three Counties Pride said:
“Over the past year a great deal of hard work and effort has gone into not only the formation of this company but also the development of its objectives and aims within the LGBT community of Herts, Beds and Bucks.
“It is hoped that what is currently an over-looked and under-funded section of the community will finally get the recognition and funding it deserves.”
Bradley Probart, Three Counties Pride spokesman, added:
“Having worked within the gay community for the last eight years, a local pride event is something I feel passionate about.
“The progression of LGBT interests, fundraising for local and national charities and providing advice and guidance to the gay community are topics close to my heart.
The first fundraiser – the Autumn Equinox – is taking place at the end of October in gay venues around the three counties.
The Pride festival itself is currently early on in the planning stage, and is currently anticipated for a 2009 date.
