Taylor Swift, Celine Dion and Garth Brooks fans are the most likely to oppose same-sex marriage, according to a new survey.

You read that right.

According to the study by ticket reseller TickPick, Swift is one of the artists with the largest portion of fans who oppose gay marriage.

TickPick surveyed the answers of 1,000 adults on politics, society issues and music.

According to the data, 20 percent of country music fans tend to oppose same-sex marriage and 16.5 percent of jazz fans are against it as well.

19.7 percent of Swift fans apparently oppose same-sex marriage, TickPick found. That number is just below 22.3 percent of Celine Dion fans and 25 percent of Garth Brooks fans.

Dion, one of the 90s’ greatest divas, enjoys a strong gay fanbase and is pro-gay marriage herself. In 2017, she wrote a love letter to the LGBT community during Pride Month, which was published on Billboard’s website.

“I’ve always said that music is a language that has no barriers, and it’s also true that love is an emotion that has no barriers,” the letter reads.

Earlier in May, Dion appeared in a promotional music video where she performed a new song, “Ashes,” which features on the soundtrack to the new Deadpool movie. The film features a gay story arc.

Fans of other genres seem more favourable to same-sex unions.

Two-thirds of people who listen to alternative music, classic rock and blues are pro-gay marriage, according to the survey.

83 percent of Kanye West fans are in favour of the legalisation of same-sex marriage.

More than 80 percent of  Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, David Bowie and Tupac Shakur fans are also in favour.

The TickPick study looked at how political affiliations and music mixed. They found that Republicans were twice as likely as Democrats or Independents to listen to country music.

Interestingly, classic rock is as liked by Republicans as it is by Democrats and Independent, making it the top genre in the US.

While some genres were agreeable to all parties, each political faction had their flagship bands – ones they didn’t share with political opponents.

Songs by Nirvana and Prince are favoured by Democrats, while Republicans usually enjoy for Billy Joel, Elvis and Bon Jovi. Independents prefer Led Zeppelin and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Some artists please the ears of everyone, regardless of their political affiliation. Republicans and Democrats equally love the Beatles.

Acts like Queen, Elton John and the Eagles are also favourites across the US political spectrum.
